Worship Gatherings
In striving for our worship gatherings to be Christ-centered, Christ-honoring and Christ-exalting, we plan our Sunday gatherings in a way that represents the Gospel not only in content but in structure as well. Thus, our liturgy (structure of our gathering) is modeled after the Gospel message itself, the patterns of individual worship (Isaiah 6:1-13, Rom 11-15) and corporate worship (Deut 5, 2 Chron 5-7, Rev 4-21) found in the Old and New Testaments, and traditional liturgy of the church. (For more, read "Christ-Centered Worship" by Bryan Chapell).
Here is the outline of Gospel Worship:
Adoration – God’s character recognized
Confession – Human character confessed
Assurance – Grace exhibited and assured
Thanksgiving – Response of thankful devotion
Instruction – Instruction for obedience
Blessing – Promise of covenant blessing
Notice how closely this follows the gospel message itself.
